⌠ Acting Up As Arizona ⌡ Ariz-1

⌠ Acting Up As Arizona ⌡ Arizonaref

“I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living.” - Dr. Seuss

“Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.” - James Dean

      N ᴀ ᴍ ᴇ -- Arizona (air-ih-ZOE-nuh)
      N ɪ ᴄ ᴋ ɴ ᴀ ᴍ ᴇ s -- Ari, Airhead, Riz, Zona, Chica, Loba, Zones, Tea, and Hot Sauce
      A ɢ ᴇ -- 2 Years & 1 Month
      G ᴇ ɴ ᴅ ᴇ ʀ -- Female
      R ᴀ ɴ ᴋ -- La Dominate / Dominant Female
      S ᴘ ᴇ ᴄ ɪ ᴇ s -- Mexican Gray Wolf
Tᴇʟᴇᴍᴇᴛʀʏ Nᴜᴍʙᴇʀ -- Even though Arizona does not sport a radio collar, her identification number for official records and tracking by the BRWRP is AF853.

⌠ Acting Up As Arizona ⌡ Hotlat

"Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated." - Confucius

      W ᴇ ɪ ɢ ʜ ᴛ -- 70 lbs.
      H ᴇ ɪ ɢ ʜ ᴛ -- 27 inches
B ᴜ ɪ ʟ ᴅ -- Due to her Mexican bloodline, this female has a very petite and lithe build. She is small in comparison to other gray wolves and tends to make up for it with her speed. Fighting and hunting large prey is not her forte. A small frame creates the perfect mode for speed, but hardly harbors any muscle for the female. Light on her toes, the female can run for miles at high speeds. She is skilled at catching deer and other small ungulates, along with small mammals. Her motto is to hunt with speed, not strength.
C ᴏ ᴀ ᴛ -- Arizona's pelt is a mixture of tans, browns, and oranges. She beautifully sports the generic, cookie-cutter pelt of most Mexican wolves. It is her giveaway, in a sense, that she is of Hispanic decent. Her back carries speckles of black on the grayish brown color that covers from her lowers eyes all the way to the tip of her tail in a sort of skunk stripe. A orange strip covers the top of her muzzle while a delicate cream covers her lower muzzle and most of her cheeks. This cream seeps down into her chest and follows all the way to her belly. Where the cream and grayish brown do not control, the dark orange can be seen.
      E ʏ ᴇ - C ᴏ ʟ ᴏ ʀ -- Deep Orange
M ᴀ ʀ ᴋ ɪ ɴ ɢ s / S ᴄ ᴀ ʀ s -- During Arizona's growth in captivity, she once managed to get snagged on a broken section of the fence. She bores a jagged scar beneath her layers of fur on her flank. The metal happened to cause a deep, very rigged scar. After many years of healing, no ill affects are felt from the torn muscle tissue and the pink, puffy skin of the mark is hidden beneath her fur.

⌠ Acting Up As Arizona ⌡ Southerheart

"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." - Confucius

P ᴇ ʀ s ᴏ ɴ ᴀ ʟ ɪ ᴛ ʏ -- Above all else, Arizona is adaptable. She can change and shift to fit her surroundings or company. When needed, this female can put on different fronts for different wolves. This is key to her strategy as a leader, for Arizona rarely finds herself following behind others. She can be quite headstrong at times and enjoys making her voice heard. Due to her size, this female will compete with words and practice of tongue. Because of her way with words, some see her as charismatic, which is another great leadership quality within her. Even so, Arizona may not talk at all to someone she doesn't know. It takes a lot of effort to become someone she is just willing to 'chat' with. When she speaks, it is for a reason and unless she becomes very close to you, it might also be a rare thing. She also absolutely loves the company of others, but she just might not talk with them. It's the feeling of having them around that she enjoys so much. Sometimes Arizona can be quite big-headed or egotistical, especially when it comes to showing off when racing or running. She will not let another wolf intimidate her out of anything, especially if they use their bigger size. Forever loyal, Arizona is a strong asset when faced with diversity. She believes with her whole heart in everything she does. For her, it is go hard or go home. This female never does anything unless it is 110%. Work is something that always pays off in the end and so, she will push her tiny body to the extremes. Creating a strong sense of work and diligence, Arizona's strengths lie in her ability to achieve anything she puts her mind to. She does not understand the meaning of "can't" and will defend her ideas till her last breath. Everything she does has a purpose and every purpose is something she does. Mental strength comes from a confidence unlike any other. Her charisma is also another shining attribute, for using her words is a specialty of hers. She can twist any situation with a few- or many- well place words. Talking is something she does best and will use it to her advantage.
S ᴛ ʀ ᴇ ɴ ɢ ᴛ ʜ s -- This fiery female can use her charm, way with words, and resiliency to achieve almost any goal. When Arizona sets her eyes on something, nothing can get in her way. She will fight with every breath to make herself known or to complete a dream. Comfort can be found in her ability as a leader because most of her top priority goals are those that seek a better for the pack as a whole. Strength is not something she physically possesses, but Arizona will use every other method to prove she harbors it.
W ᴇ ᴀ ᴋ ɴ ᴇ s s ᴇ s -- Some could consider her resilience as a rather stubborn and thick-headed trait. Once stuck on something, perhaps even something that could lead to her own perishing, she cannot be steered otherwise without lots of effort. She will push herself to the brink, sometimes in a dangerous way. It is hard for her to see the faults in others as she does not like to see evil in the spirit's of others, creating a naive bliss that is hard to get past. She works hard to see the best in everyone and this can sometimes cause bumps in her path. Even so, without her flaws, Arizona would not be the great wolf she is today.
T ᴀ ʟ ᴇ ɴ ᴛ s -- Talking and thinking are Arizona's greatest strengths. She spends long hours of the day thinking and when she speaks, the words always seem very thought out. Losing herself in ideas and schemes that she only shares with very few others. However, when she does speak, Arizona can paint pictures with words and create beautiful ideas.
H ᴀ ʙ ɪ ᴛ s -- One odd habit of this lovely she-wolf is her regular need to sunbathe. Instead of resting in the sun like most, she enjoys lying on her back. This allows the rays to seep into her stomach and makes the female feel all warm inside. Nothing is more soothing to her than this and she will go out of her way to do it, especially after a stressful time.
      L ɪ ᴋ ᴇ s --
      → Sunbathing
      → Racing
      → Thinking
→ Talking; when someone is able to handle her idea of conversation
      → The company of others

      D ɪ s ʟ ɪ ᴋ ᴇ s --
      → Losing
→ Both physically and verbally fighting
      → Winter
      → Being interrupted

⌠ Acting Up As Arizona ⌡ Trail

"Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment." - Buddha

Selected by the fates to become something great, a single pup among many. Why this particular one was to be chosen, no one truly knew. A single touch by the grace of an unknown presence sealed the destiny of Arizona. She was born to be a resistance. To defend her dieing race and fight with every passing day against the oppressing limitations her own kinda faced. A heart of pure wilderness that had long been deprived from her own kind. Years of rehabilitation within the confines of captivity had been the path of the Mexican Gray wolf population. After being struck so badly by the retaliation of human kind in the 1900's, the wolf sub-species was crippled. They craved their natural wilderness, their need falsely fulfilled by the reenactment of their natural range in the miles of fenced refuge. Even so, the spark of life that harbored the past wild spirit that named them truly wolves was to light a fire in the heart of Arizona.

Born and raised within the enclosed area of the Sevilleta Wolf Management Facility in Socorro, New Mexico, Arizona was part of the 'Ghost Ranch' lineage. She was birthed to one of the main breeding pairs within the facility, AM586 and AF674, Raúl and Guadalupe. Among many of the researchers, the litter that was born to this pair was the most significant. It was the pair's first litter, yet they harbored a wilderness about them that no one could understand. Three sparkling females, Arizona, Gypsie, and Margarete. They quickly became known as a 'Triple Threat', or the 'Trouble Trio'. Even when they were newly born, the Sevilleta seemed to become alive with their new presence.

Quickly, Guadalupe was the first to recognize their extremely feral attributes. She hated the humans herself, and threw a absolute fit when they came to mess with her new litter, yet she immediately noticed her pup's displeasure. Any connection or interaction with the humans was strictly limited, but even so, any sort made the pup's skin crawl. They absolutely detested having the company of the ugly creatures and went out of their way to avoid them. Even when they still carried the wooly, dark fur, they would squirm and struggle in order to avoid the alien touch of the humans. This one encounter was enough to form a certain discomfort around the presence of humans for Arizona.

Life was easy in the comfort of the fenced facility. Meals crafted from the destruction of car wheels were placed in the proximity of Arizona's natal pack territory. It was easy and abundant, creating a life of ease for the small group. Guadalupe busied herself with teaching the credentials to her young, passing along a certain southern hospitality that most Mexican wolves harbored. 'You must always be courteous to guests and offer your best,' she would always say. Raúl, on the other hand, taught all three young wolves the idea of consistency and perseverance. He filled their minds with the tales of the old wolves, running free in a land that was once feral. They were told of how far the Mexican wolf population had come and all the adversities they, as a whole, had faced. Through the persecution and destruction, here they were. The small group of five, still making their way in the world. Sparking a desire deep in Arizona's chest, these teachings are what makes the female herself.

As the months passed, the trio became a band of inseparable trouble makers. They explored every nook and cranny of their enclosure, searching for any possible escape into the wilderness that called them so loudly. Once, while in the more unvisited section of the fencing, they managed to find a rusted, broken section. Arizona was first to volunteer, trying her best to wiggle her way out of the fencing. Some of the more jagged, protruding edges snagged on her flank, cutting it open. The more she struggled, the deeper it went. Entangled in the fencing with her two dearly loved sisters helpless, Arizona was forced to wait until she could receive medical attention from the staff at the facility. The hole was sealed, but Arizona's desire for freedom wasn't.

After her wound healed nicely, the female decided it was best to enjoy the other interesting qualities of her home. She would play for hours with her sisters, harassing Gypsie about her small size and getting on Margarete for having too short a temper. They spent what seemed to be their whole lives together, dancing across the hilltops of the hot desert in the backdrop of the dieing sun. Chasing and barking, the family was stronger than ever. Then, wolves were selected. Like a greedy hand searching for the best possible fruit in the tree, wolves with the greatest genetic value, distaste in humans, and overall feral behavior, were chosen for a big release date. Wolf AF853 happened to be one of them. Arizona's behavior and genes were the perfect setup for success in the wild and so, she was set for release. Her family members however, mainly her sisters, were not selected as candidates. Both parents already had too many years, but it didn't explain why her sisters were not selected as well. Arizona would never know that her sister Margarete would soon succumb to stomach cancer in the company of Gypsie, who developed seeing problems in her left eye. In Arizona's mind, they are still the spitting image of perfect health, chasing her across the Sevilleta. She never got to see their deteriorated forms, for her release was long before their health declined. Even so, it is said the researchers could see early signs and so, they were not selected for release.

Soon enough, the trio was no more. Packed into a box alone, Arizona was crated and ready for movement. Strapped to the back of mules and other burrows, a team of workers and the other wolves set off for the BWRA. There, she was to be released with 10 other wolves. It was a long trip, yet nothing seriously difficult befell the group. They reached the release site with little complications and once ready, began to send out the wolves. One by one, each wolf's crate was slid open and like smoke, each wolf vanished in a blur. Arizona, on the other hand, lunged from her crate with a fury like no other. She had her freedom, but at a cost she would have never wished to pay. Teeth snapped towards near hands, hoping to slice fingers in return for the terrible misfortune that had befallen her. When she left the crate in a blind rage, finally making her way towards the cover of the trees, Arizona disappeared with the others. The 'Triple Threat' was now a solo.

Lost in the wilderness that was not her own, Arizona was overcome. She felt a sorrow unlike anything she had ever known. Unable to understand where she was or where her family was, the female was distraught. She drifted from carcass to carcass of the roadkill that the researchers were providing for the first few months. The newly released wolves had one huge challenge ahead of them: learning to hunt. Too burdened by the loss of her truly beloved sisters, Arizona would wander for days and howl for long periods at night. She would listen for a reply from her family for hours, only to hear no word from them. After weeks of this terrible depression, the female was forced to remember her teachings. Her father's stories coaxed a desire to live, to prove herself as worthy of reaching the wild. She would do it for her race, her parents, and her sisters.

The next few days consisted of trial and error. She tested many animals, including deer and elk. Hunting was instinctual, something written so deep in her blood, she could feel it's hidden power. Her actions were something she felt, not necessarily something she understood. Eventually however, after days of chasing but not succeeding in catching, Arizona finally managed to catch a deer. It's agile steps became matched by her own and after so much work, the female collected her prize. This would be her first kill, but it would certainly not be her last. Now, after several months in the reintroduction area, Arizona has mastered the abilities needed to survive. Now, she fights to build a pack.

I love the fact that you chose a wolf breed that no one else ever seems to play. Kudos to you! I'm sure that Arizona and Nocturne will get along just fine. As long as cuddling is avoided lol.

Thanks, Noct! Cuddling may be a slight problem. He's just so big and mysterious. The female's just won't be able to resist. ^^

I love your choice of species! I also love your reference - it's beautiful! I have a Mexican grey character but I haven't played her yet. I still need to develop her a little more. And it does seem that very few people play them. But they are a lovely breed.

And Turn, you're in for plenty of cuddling.
